A Christian Lie - Sutrapridot

Thursday, February 18, 2010

[The Enlightened One told his followers, “Regardless of how many laws you have kept, or even if you pray five times a day, you cannot be free from your sins. Even though you burn yourself, even though I become a hermit or am reborn another ten times, I shall also not be saved. "This Holy One who will be the golden boat who will carry you over the cycle of rebirths all the way to the highest heaven (Nirvana). Do not look for Salvation the old way: there is no salvation in it for sure. Quit the old way. And there will be a new spirit like the light of a lightening bug which will come down from the sky above to live in all of your hearts and you will be victorious over all your enemies.  Nobody will be able to destroy you. If you die, you will not come back to be born in this world again. You go to the highest heaven. (Nirvana). "Sutrapridot 3:107) (Manuscript, Praising Temple, Chiengmai, Thailand) (Permission was given to copy these Buddhist Scriptures from Wat Phra Sing ChiangMai Province by Phra Sriwisutthiwong in Bangkok, Thailand. “It is guaranteed that this copy is accurate according to the original, that there is no error in transmission, which is in the book of the district headman, the religious encyclopedia volume 23, book #29. This inquiry was made on October 13, 1954 A.D. (Buddhist era 2497)”]

You will find this only in Christian websites and forums. This fictitious sutra is said to be the work of a William G. Singleton. Is this a real person or fictitious? Sutrapridot is supposed to be kept in Praising Temple, Chiengmai. Is Praising Temple real or fictitious? W.G. Singleton got a copy of this sutra from Wat Phra Sing ChiangMai with the permission from Phra Sriwisutthiwong in Bangkok. Is Phra Sriwisutthiwong a real person or fictitious? When I googled for these names, only Christian websites appear. This tells much on the authenticity of Sutrapridot.

Since it is guaranteed that this copy is accurate according to the original, that there is no error in transmission, then I can guarantee that the contents of the Sutrapridot is not Buddha's words and teachings.

Buddha has attained nibbana (nirvana) - freedom from the cycle of rebirths. Nirvana does not mean the highest heaven. Noble Eightfold Path is the way to the attainment of nirvana. All other religions teach the way to heaven but only Buddha teaches the way to attain nirvana.

As you see, Buddha's teaching is completely different from those in Sutrapridot. Sutrapridot is most probably written by some unscrupulous and propagandist Christians. And this fiction is where I suspect ignorant Christians like Steve Cioccolanti and Rony Tan pick up from about Buddha's teaching and Buddha prophesized the coming of Jesus

What would you do if you learned that this was true?

Why is the ticker tape heading a version of a verse from the Bible, from Isaiah 55:12, may all being go out in joy and be let forth with peace; may the mountains and the jill burst into song before us, and may ll the tress of the field clap their hands....?
Here is the verse from Isaiah:
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

Here is the whole passage of Isaiah 55:
Invitation to the Thirsty
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to my beloved.
4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a ruler and commander of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,
because of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”

6 Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the LORD’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”

Live in Joy, In love,
Even among those who hate.

Live in joy, In health,
Even among the afflicted.

Live in joy, In peace,
Even among the troubled.

Look within. Be still.
Free from fear and attachment,
Know the sweet joy of living in the way.
